WWE WrestleMania 40 predictions: Night 2 picks – card, 2024 matches – start time, location and date

[ad_1]

WrestleMania40 is shaping up to be the biggest and best event in WrestleMania History. Cody Rhodes will face Roman Reigns on Sunday night for the undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

The stipulation will be revealed at the conclusion of night 1, when Reigns and The Rock team up to face Rhodes and Seth Rollins as the world heavyweight champ. If Reigns wins with his team, the match between him and Rhodes will be under “Bloodline Rules,” meaning no disqualifications. There may also be a lot of running from his family members. The Bloodline will be banned if Rhodes and Rollins win.

After the shocking decision that Reigns defeated Rhodes in the main match of WrestleMania39, fans are eagerly awaiting the moment when Rhodes finally gets his chance on the 40th Anniversary of the biggest event of wrestling history.

Two other world championship matches are scheduled for Night 2. Rollins will defend his world heavyweight title against Drew McIntyre, and WWE women’s champ Iyo Sky will put her belt on the table against Bayley. Logan Paul will also defend the United States title against Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and in a triple-threat match.

CBS Sports experts gathered to make predictions for each match. Take a look at their predictions for Night 2’s matches. You can find here the predictions for Night 1.

WrestleMania 30 Night 2 predictions

The Final Testament The Final Testament

Karrion Kross is not something I care about, even if you give him months worth of vignettes and repackages. You can also give him two managers and an awesome tag team. Please let Bobby and The Profits end this rivalry, so that both groups can move forward. Pick: The Pride winner Connor Casey (also Brent Brookhouse

A brawl between mediocre factions that weren’t booked at their full potential. This could go either way. Lashley & the Street Profits would be the safest pick, not an inspired choice. AOP has been on hold for a while and Kross was rebooted several times in the past two years. The stable may be a bit hokey or crowded, but they are a brutal heel group that can take on any popular babyface. Rhodes will make the crowd happy, so let’s spoil them a bit with this match. Pick: the Final Testament win Shakiel Mahajouri

LA Knight vs. AJ Styles

Knight is an undisputed success in the WWE. He has cooled since losing to Reigns during Crown Jewel. But so have other superstars leading up to WrestleMania. Knight and Styles are doing a fantastic job of ratcheting the intensity of their feud. They could benefit from a match condition this weekend or in the future. Knight should win in most cases. Even if the feud is extended beyond WrestleMania the 41-year old Knight has waited for this moment for more than 20 years. Give it to the man. Pick: LA Knight wins Mahjouri

United States Championship – Kevin Owens (c) vs. Randy Orton

Owens isn’t in need of the title and Orton has a big enough name to hang around as United States champ. Paul being the champion — and retaining this title — is unfortunate in that he’s not a regular on television. His name does draw a little extra attention, and it makes sense that he would take advantage of Owens’ and Orton’s fight to sneak in another title defense. Pick: Logan Paul keeps the title Brookhouse (also Casey, Mahjouri and Mahjouri)

WWE Women’s Championship: Iyo (c) vs. Bayley

I feel bad about Bayley. She is at the end a storyline that has lasted for years, with a faction that she helped create, and a matchup which will give her a definitive WrestleMania appearance. The match is probably seventh in terms of fan interest on the two night card. She’ll win, and hopefully they’ll have enough time to create something special. But this feels like a afterthought when you walk into Philly. Pick: Bayley wins title — Casey (also Mahjouri, Brookhouse and Brookhouse).

World Heavyweight Championship — Seth Rollins, (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

McIntyre is almost as deserving of his WrestleMania moment, as Rhodes. McIntyre may be the most improved superstar this year. He has evolved into a witty, revengeful heel with relatable gripes. He’s able to hold his own at the microphone against CM Punk and Rhodes – two of today’s most popular talkers. McIntyre’s first WWE championship was won in an empty arena during the pandemic affected WrestleMania 36. McIntyre deserves a proper celebration with his family and fans. Pick: Drew McIntyre is the winner Mahjouri

McIntyre is to be commended for the excellent work he has been doing, but as I believe Rollins to be on the losing squad on Night 1, it’s hard to believe that he would suffer another defeat on Night 2. You know that despite McIntyre’s great work, WWE is looking forward to a feud with Rollins against CM Punk in the future. Rollins should hold on to the belt if Punk’s return is not imminent. Punk is angry with both men. However, he should have more anger at McIntyre, who has been aggravating the injury. McIntyre will be commentating, in a perfect position to tip things one way or another. Pick: Seth Rollins retains title Brookhouse (also Casey

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship — Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes

We won’t be able to confirm this until Night 1 concludes on Saturday. However, we believe that this match will take place under Bloodline Rules. This would be a huge disadvantage for Rhodes, and only a babyface superstar like Rhodes could overcome it. Add some backup in the form of those who are aligned to him, those who resent Reigns for his actions in the past and maybe even a few legends and the odds suddenly become equal. It would be a terrible mistake for WWE to not go with a Rhodes victory here. They have had several over-the-top babyfaces in the past 18 months. Pick: Cody Rhodes takes the title Brookhouse

It all boils down to this. Cody was cheated of the WrestleMania Main Event a year ago. The Rock and Roman reigns have beaten him down week after weeks. The Bloodline cost him the tag-team main event the night prior and now he is taking on the longest reigning champion in decades without any rules holding him back. Cody is the winner.

But he will not be alone. Rhodes could have a “Avengers Assemble’ moment and send out a legion to even the odds. There are so many who have a grudge against Reigns. Seth Rollins and Jey Uso as well as Sami Zayn Kevin Owens Randy Orton LA Knight to name just a few. If they want to go nuts, they can also have John Cena or Steve Austin run there for the obscene noises both would make.

It’s pointless to try and force another standard wrestling match between Cody Roman. This was done last year. This is the moment to go all-out; no idea or spot is too extravagant. It will feel like a car accident in the moment but if Rhodes wins, it will be a classic. Pick: Cody Rhodes takes the title Casey

When Rhodes lost to Reigns in WrestleMania, there was a collective groan. Paul Levesque encouraged patience, but it was difficult to see this decision as anything other that a huge blunder. WWE nearly ruined it by having The Rock fill Rhodes’ place this year. Fortunately, WWE reacted beautifully to the disapproval of fans. WrestleMania’s two main matches are some of the most anticipated events in the event’s history. It’s a big gamble to keep it pending. Rhodes has to become the undisputed WWE Universal Champion and achieve what his father, Dusty Rhodes (aka “The American Dream”), never achieved. Pick: Cody Rhodes takes the title Mahjouri
